Great Western provides the Tension Quick Synthetic Screen Stretcher as an economical choice for operations that are able to sustainably maintenance their sifter screens in-house. If your operation demands exceed capability to process re-screening operations in-house, please contact a representative at Great Western to discuss our re-screening and repair services.

  • Economical stretcher for low volume stretching applications.
  • Excellent stretching capabilities.
  • Five sizes available for the full range of Great Western sieve frames.
  • Furnished with solid mounting board, locking rods (rod diameter according to fabric thickness), screen insert tool, tensioning wrench, and screen contact weight bars.

Synthetic Fabric Stretching Instructions

  1. Place Great Western Tension Quick on a solid, level work surface. Place proper thickness insert board(s) inside stretcher frame to raise sieve frame so that the top gluing surface is 1/16” to 1/8” above the top surface of the Tension Quick.
  2. Secure the synthetic fabric using the plastic fabric insertion tools. Start at the outside open end of the stretcher bar and press the fabric into the locking slot in the roller bar. Working behind the insertion tool, simultaneously slide the locking rod in place (thickest side down). Repeat on the opposite side, and then follow the same procedure on the remaining two sides.
  3. Be sure the locking rod is flush with the end opposite the open end where the locking rod insertion process began.
  4. A portion of the locking rod will stick out the open end of the roller bar providing a means to remove the locking rod once the clothing has been glued to the frame and excess fabric trimmed.
  5. Now use the hex head tensioning wrench to tension one side. Tension the opposite side. Then tension the remaining two sides until the proper screen tension is achieved. Be sure to fully engage the hex head wrench in the roller bar to prevent premature wear of the hex fitting in the end of the roller bar.

NEVER ROTATE THE ROLLER BAR COUNTERCLOCKWISE FOR ANY REASON!

  1. Glue fabric to the frame according to the manufacturer’s instructions and safety precautions. (Do not use excessive adhesive, it will make future clothing replacement and tray clean-up more difficult.) Use weights as required, to improve screen and tray contact. Allow sufficient time for the glue to set.
  2. Trim the excess fabric from the sieve frame.
  3. Remove trimmed fabric from the roller bars by tapping sharply on the locking rod at the closed end. This will release the tension on the rod by pushing it into the locking slot. Once released, the locking rod and excess fabric can be easily removed.

NOTE: This must be done before the roller bar is rotated clockwise back into position for the next use. If the roller bars are rotated with the excess fabric still installed, it will lock up the roller bar springs and require a return to the factory for repair. Rotate the roller bars clockwise on all four sides until you hear the first click.

NEVER ROTATE THE ROLLER BAR COUNTERCLOCKWISE FOR ANY REASON!
